BzzAgent

December 4th, 2008 (08:42 pm)

I'm a member of this website called BzzAgent. It's a great place to go to try out brand new items that haven't been put out on the market yet or are so extremely knew that most people have never heard of it. Basically the point is, you create "buzz" about the product by trying it out and telling friends about it.

When you sign up, you'll become an agent. Agents are everyday consumers who believe in word of mouth. If you like to check out new products, services, books and other cool stuff and share your opinion with others, it is definitely the thing for you. You'll also have your input and feedback taken seriously by companies and brands.

Once you've signed up for a campaign, received your product, and told people about it, all you do is submit a BzzReport on the site. You get personalized responses to each report, with feedback, thanks and encouragement!

It is completely free to join BzzAgent, and well worth it. You are not obligated to do anything, and since it is voluntary, you won't get paid for it. But you'll get a great product and the chance to make a difference with it. And the more you participate, the more perks you get, like bein invited to campaigns before they launch, and the ability to join an otherwise unavailable campaign.

A sidenote is that not all campaigns you sign up for on BzzAgent are free. Not every client can afford to give away their product for absolutely free. But don't worry, you get everything at a majorly discounted price. The BzzAgent company and their client does their best to make sure the fee is as low as possible. For example, I was in a campaign to try out a Game Wave Family Entertainment System, which is a 6-player system that offers exciting family-friendly games. The system itself has a suggested retail of $99, but with the 2 additional remotes, remote control dock, and game, this bumps the price to over $200! But BzzAgents got it for $49.95 even. (Review on that later!)

All in all, this place is a great way to try out new products, spread the word about them, and make an impact with many companies and brands.

If you would like to become a BzzAgent, visit http://www.bzzagent.com and sign up!

If you would also like to try the Game Wave Family Entertainment System that I spoke about, our campaign still needs people! Visit http://www.bzzagent.com/go/gamewave3 to sign up for BzzAgent and get an immediate invitation!

Skullcrusher Mountain

Current Song: Jonathan Coulton - Skullcrusher Mountain | Powered by Last.fm

Welcome to my secret lair on Skullcrusher Mountain
I hope that you've enjoyed your stay so far
I see you've met my assistant Scarface
His appearance is quite disturbing
But I assure you he's harmless enough
He's a sweetheart, calls me master
And he has a way of finding pretty things and bringing them to me

I'm so into you
But I'm way too smart for you
Even my henchmen think I'm crazy
I'm not surprised that you agree
If you could find some way to be
A little bit less afraid of me
You'd see the voices that control me from inside my head
Say I shouldn't kill you yet

I made this half-pony half-monkey monster to please you
But I get the feeling that you don't like it
What's with all the screaming?
You like monkeys, you like ponies
Maybe you don't like monsters so much
Maybe I used too many monkeys
Isn't it enough to know that I ruined a pony making a gift for you?

I'm so into you
But I'm way too smart for you
Even my henchmen think I'm crazy
I'm not surprised that you agree
If you could find some way to be
A little bit less afraid of me
You'd see the voices that control me from inside my head
Say I shouldn't kill you yet

Picture the two of us alone inside my golden submarine
While up above the waves my doomsday squad ignites the atmosphere
And all the fools who live their foolish lives may find it quite explosive
But it won't mean half as much to me if I don't have you here

You know it isn't easy living here on Skullcrusher Mountain
Maybe you could cut me just a little slack
Would it kill you to be civil?
I've been patient, I've been gracious
And this mountain is covered with wolves
Hear them howling, my hungry children
Maybe you should stay and have another drink and think about me and you

I'm so into you
But I'm way too smart for you
Even my henchmen think I'm crazy
I'm not surprised that you agree
If you could find some way to be
A little bit less afraid of me
You'd see the voices that control me from inside my head
Say I shouldn't kill you yet
I shouldn't kill you yet
I shouldn't kill you yet

And in the end, the love you take is equal to the love you make.

October 2nd, 2008 (10:22 pm)

It turns out Derrick was planning a candle lit dinner for us. He surrounded the room in the same candles that we used during out wedding. He also had a table set up in the living room. He made spaghetti and garlic rolls. It was just wonderful, romantic, and the perfect ending to a fun day together.

Houses

October 2nd, 2008 (08:12 pm)
tired

Current Mood: tired

Today Derrick and I went out driving like we normally do, and stopped at the IKEA. We planned out some things we want if we can get a new house. Afterwards, we headed up to this temple that I saw in the distance that still has construction being done in some part, since the parking lot was blocked and surrounded by workers. We checked out the houses, which were beautiful, but in the $1,000,000 range. Yeah, just a bit high.

I took some nice pictures though. The view these houses get is amazing!

We also saw this interesting PT Cruiser in the IKEA parking lot:

Derrick is tinkering around upstairs and won't let me know what he is doing. He's making a lot of noise though.

It was definitely a fun day, although it wasted a bit of gas climbing the hills. :P

Funny metaphors used in high school essays

September 30th, 2008 (03:06 pm)
amused

Current Mood: amused

Every week or so, the receptionist at my chiropracter finds funny things on the net and prints them out for all his customers to take with them and brighten their day. Here's one that I loved:

Funny metaphors used in high school essays

1. Her face was a perfect oval, like a circle that had its two sides gently compressed by a Thigh Master.

2. His thoughts tumbled in his head, making and breaking alliances like underpants in a dryer without Cling Free.

3. He spoke with the wisdom that can only come from experience, like a guy who went blind because he looked at a solar eclipse without one of those boxes with a pinhole in it and now goes around the country speaking at high schools about the dangers of looking at a solar eclipse without one of those boxes with a pinhole in it.

4. She grew on him like she was a colony of E. coli, and he was room temperature Canadian beef.

5. She had a deep, throaty, genuine laugh, like that sound a dog makes just before it throws up.

6. The revelation that his marriage of 30 years had disintegrated because of his wife’s infidelity came as a rude shock, like a surcharge at a formerly surcharge-free ATM machine.

7. The little boat gently drifted across the pond exactly the way a bowling ball wouldn’t.

8. From the attic came an unearthly howl. The whole scene had an eerie, surreal quality, like when you’re on vacation in another
city and Jeopardy comes on at 7:00 p.m. instead of 7:30.

9. Her hair glistened in the rain like a nose hair after a sneeze.

10. The hailstones leaped from the pavement, just like maggots when you fry them in hot grease.

11. Long separated by cruel fate, the star-crossed lovers raced across the grassy field toward each other like two freight trains, one having left Cleveland at 6:36 p.m. traveling at 55 mph, the other from Topeka at 4:19 p.m. at a speed of 35 mph.

12. They lived in a typical suburban neighborhood with picket fences that resembled Nancy Kerrigan’s teeth.

13. He fell for her like his heart was a mob informant, and she was the East River.

14. Even in his last years, Granddad had a mind like a steel trap, only one that had been left out so long, it had rusted shut.

15. The plan was simple, like my brother-in-law Phil. But unlike Phil, this plan just might work.

16. The young fighter had a hungry look, the kind you get from not eating for a while.

17. He was as lame as a duck. Not the metaphorical lame duck, either, but a real duck that was actually lame, maybe from stepping on a land mine or something.

18. The ballerina rose gracefully en Pointe and extended one slender leg behind her, like a dog at a fire hydrant.

19. It was an American tradition, like fathers chasing kids around with power tools.

20. He was deeply in love. When she spoke, he thought he heard bells, as if she were a garbage truck backing up.

happy

Current Mood: happy

Well, things have been going better in the way of finances now that Derrick has a steady paycheck. Once we get on food stamps we thing we'll actually have a bit of spending money left over. And after we use the available resources for first-time home buyers, we will be able to get ourselves a home with no problem. We already have a place picked out to live. It's near my friends Trevor and Julina's house. They will not only be a short block down the street, we'll be in the same ward. It's a mobile home community, but a very nice one. 3 bedrooms, 2 bath, gated community, meeting house with spa and Olympic sized pool... all for about $30,000. Which is great since we plan to have a kid soon enough.

So, we worked out a budget and found out that we could adopt a kitty! So we did! We went down to the Humane Society of Utah, mainly because I believe they actually euthanize animals when they run out of room (but I could be wrong). We looked at all the kittens and fawned over them, but we weren't looking for a baby cat. Most cats that are adopted are from just babies to a little over 1 year old. So the ones that are older almost have a death sentence because of this. So we adopted a cute 2 year old one that was already named Ecko (Which is the first of that spelling that I've seen). He is black with yellow eyes and look a bit like my Midnight at home. Except Ecko is tiny and my Midnight, although a healthy weight, is built like truck. He's the Peterbilt Model 384 to Ecko's Toyota Corolla. And none of you will get that unless you like semis or my car. So he's the semi to Ecko's 4 door compact.

He's a good cat, very affectionate and loving. But it's only his third day here, and he's still a bit spooked. He likes to sleep in Derrick's closet. He's got an upper respiratory infection, and he's getting medicine for that.

Here's a picture:

Take care everyone. <3

Updates

August 9th, 2008 (05:04 pm)

Nothing really new going on right now. Derrick just got a new job, and it's only part time. And it pays very little. So right now we can pay our bills, but barely. We don't really have enough for food at all, so it might be us just living off of ramen and tv dinners right now. My vocational rehabilitation doesn't allow me to work, and they are sending me to college as of the 20th. Since I'm getting a bachelor's, it'll be a while before I can work again. They labeled me as disabled and recommended tha I apply for disability, which I've been putting off since like April. We also need to reapply for food stamps since we never sent in our application from back in May. Now I wish I had gotten those things done because we are barely living. And with the gas being the price it is, and my requirement to complete at least 12 credit hours a semester in a school at least 13 miles from my home... it's going to be hell. I'm trying not to get worried because I've been really sick the past week or so (severe chest pains, my muscles are being strange. Plus I had some strong heart palpitations for about 3 days in a row and a minor blood clot in my arm). Derrick says he'll work everything out though, and I trust him on that.

Right now he's at work and the silly forgot his lunch so I have to run down there and give it to him when he calls. :P

That's about all that's been happening lately.
